Green Trike Press was created in 2008 upon completion of my MFA from Columbia College Chicago Book and Paper Center. I studied all things Papermaking, Bookbinding and Letterpress!
Green Trike Press began as a place to showcase my bookbinding in original handmade journals. The journals and sketchbooks are created from a variety of reclaimed material including leather from vintage briefcases and purses, board games, volumes of encyclopedia books, vintage photographs, postcards and books.
Every step is created using historical binding techniques - updated for the modern day writer and artist!
I have a deep love and appreciation for these crafts. I am constantly inspired by the time, the dedication and the history of these beautiful historical processes.
Green Trike Press now also includes my paper artwork and soon to come - letterpress printing!
The studio is currently expanding to make room for some letterpress presses - soon to be in production!
In this world so full of iPhones and iPads and incredible apps - there really is still a place for beautifully made handmade journals - crafted with love and care - waiting for someone to pick up a pen or pencil and let their ideas, hopes, fears, dreams and memories flow onto the page (maybe in cursive handwriting...perhaps?) and let their story be told. Sharing their story not for a tweet or a post or a like - but simply and quietly for themselves.
Life is full of stories - write yours down somewhere special!
